Three Thoughts:
Boundaries are the most direct way for you to protect your energy. Make them clear for your sake. If they aren’t, people will just keep taking more and more. Not because they are malicious, but simply because they won’t know when you need space or when you are feeling depleted. Boundaries are a proactive way of designing your life. To help maintain your inner and outer vibrancy, you need to be able to clearly know who and what can enter your space. Boundaries are not about being overly strict or mean, they are about using your self-awareness of what is genuinely good for you and allowing these things to become the new pillars of your life. In a world where there is a constant battle for our attention and a potentially overwhelming amount of information, we need proper digital and in person boundaries to support our mental health.
One of the clearest signs that your emotional maturity has blossomed is when you can hold space for your own turbulent emotions without throwing them onto the people around you. Whether heavy or light, emotions have the tendency of wanting to spread. We like when others can share our joy or our rough feelings. But when it comes to letting your turbulent emotions take the lead in your actions and in the narratives that develop in your mind, you are simply increasing the chances of causing friction between you and those in your proximity. A good way to act on the love you have for those around you is by letting them know when you feel down so that they are also aware that you are going through a tough moment. The power of communication is understated, especially when it comes from a place that is trying to maintain harmony.
Don’t let the storm limit what you can see. Light is bound to appear again. Especially because you can change things. These heavy feelings are but a short note in the history of your life. It is easy to forget the depth of your power when everything feels rough. You have already overcome so much to be where you are now. Tough moments are common before a great victory. Lean on the fact that you are more than a survivor. You are more than your past. You are more than what hurts. Old habits do not define you. You are a hero that is ready to emerge. Your transformation will inspire others to do the hard things they need to do to thrive. Even if this moment is a struggle, you always have the opportunity to start again.
