Normally I have a few events a year, where I travel to major cities and talk more extensively about topics that I write about on IG and in my book Inward. Since the pandemic began, all of that has stopped. A few months ago, the idea came that I should try to create an online offering that has the same feel of an in-person event with even more content. From there I reached out to my good friend Soren, the founder of Wisdom 2.0 and one of the best interviewers I have come across, to see if he would interview me on a wide range of topics. In late October, we gathered at the home of another close friend, Lindsey, who is an extraordinary Director/Producer. There we filmed a series of videos that are now available and collectively known as Committed to the Journey.
Getting to talk about things I have experienced and learned along the way is always a joy because the string of thoughts has its own way of coming together, it feels like you get a different side of the mind when speaking instead of writing. The title Committed to the Journey hits close to home, because like most people out there, I feel like I am in the midst of my own personal growth and freedom journey – not perfect, not fully healed, but on my way and fully committed to taking steps forward.
The video series is made of 7 parts that total to 3 hours and 27 minutes. You can access all of that content for $20, which is the same price I normally have for tickets to an in-person event. Accessibility is important to me, so I made sure to try to bring you the highest quality production for a reasonable price. The 7 parts include my personal story, relationships, the power of meditation, what is healing and self-love, how to unlock creativity, how inner-work impacts society, and a question & answer segment. This is only the second full project I have ever released, my first is my book Inward that came out in 2018. In a way, the two feel like they fit well together. I’m really happy with how this project turned out. I hope these videos serve you well. Click here to access them.
Three Thoughts:
Imagination can be quite slippery, if you want to access your past you need to come in contact with what you are feeling. Mental images and memories can become distorted over time, but the imprints of the past will continue showing up clearly as feelings in the body until we process them. In a real way, you are coming in contact with your past by accepting whatever you are feeling in the present moment.
Letting go is vital because we don’t realize that what we have felt in the past actually gets accumulated within us. We carry the intensity, the hurt, the tension and it pops up whenever the mind is reminded of something that happened long ago. When the healing starts, we unload the burdens that we used to take with us everywhere. This causes a cascade of changes that extend from our perception all the way to our interests. When we fully commit to healing, we have to be ready to say goodbye to the old version of ourselves.
Healing looks different for everyone. The same practice that works great for you is not always going to work well for your partner, friend or family member. The speed at which you unfold and flourish is also unique to you. All individuals have different conditioning, stretching from the emotional history we carry to all of the information we have consumed. The journey from struggle to inner peace can be incredibly personal.
Journal Prompt:
In what ways can you more deeply commit to your inner journey? Have you found the practice you need to help you navigate your inner world? In what ways can you support yourself in making your healing non-negotiable?
Book Recommendation:
One of my favorite books is Sapiens, by fellow meditator Yuval Noah Harari. He does an amazing job giving you the highlights of human history. This book is a captivating, easy to read, and it really challenges old ways of seeing the world. I found his all-encompassing view of history really helpful.
